The Bulls Masters could certainly be considered “veterans” in their own right so it was with great pleasure that we answered the call to entertain the over 40’s from around Australia who were in Brisbane competing at the National Veterans Cricket Carnival.
Carl “Mocka” Rackemann set the bar high with his story about his “world record” batting innings against England in the 1991 Ashes in Sydney. As you’d probably know, Carl is better known for his fearsome pace bowling but on this occasion he got the job done with the willow in hand with the help of the umpire and no thanks to Greg Matthews!
Darren Lehmann hit the stage after Mocka and was full of stories about his career as a player and coach but will be best remembered for his chrystal-ball opinions on the World Cup. Like Nostadamus, Boof predicted that New Zealand would test India in the semi-final but likely fall short. He predicted Australia would take care of South Africa and then face India in the final where the pressure of the home crowd would get to the hosts and Australia would prevail. Not bad Darren.
Internationally renowned comedian and ventriloquist, Darren Carr was at his hilarious best, sending the crowd into laughter throughout his show. All up it was great to support a worthy cause and raise some good money for Veterans Cricket who provide much joy for many Aussie cricketers.
