Bulls Masters Mackay Tour 2024

January 28 2025

The Bulls Masters begin a busy 2025 with a trip to Mackay to support the Champions Trophy, run some intensive clinics for kids aged nine to 18 and to hold a fundraising dinner to support the Mackay Sports Foundation.

The clinics were set-up by Queensland Cricket and used the Bulls Masters to run technical aspects of the batting and bowling exercises. Former Australian T20 batters Nathan Reardon and Sam Heazlett were leading the batting classes and former Bulls opening bowler Luke Feldman helped with bowling technique drills.

The clinics were split into two days to focus on different age groups with the nine to 13 year olds up first on the Thursday and the older kids on Friday. Over the two days, more than 100 kids got to improve their cricket technique with the help of former Queensland and Australian cricket players and the local coaches who helped Queensland Cricket put the clinics together.

The coaches forum was a robust debate on how to help improve the mentoring in the region. Local Queensland Cricket representative Luke Kennedy was crucial in helping to put the event together and input from Nathan Reardon, Sam Heazlett and Luke Feldman was very helpful for the local coaches.

The sportsmans dinner held at Harrup Park in the Lancaster Rooms was a sold out cocktail style event with all proceeds going to the Mackay Sports Foundation. Brisbane Broncos legend Allan Langer headlined the entertainment with former Australian fast bowler Carl Rackemann and the crowd that showed up got their money worth with some hilarious tales from the two Queensland sports stars. The night raised just under $30k for the Mackay Sports Foundation in what can only be described as a raging success!

The weekend finished with the Champions Trophy which put the winners of North Queensland’s various T20 tournaments together to come up with a winner. The Bulls Masters mentored the various teams and cricket was the winner!
