Captains Cup Golf Day Unites Masters of Past & Present

February 10 2025

The 2nd annual Captain’s Cup Invitational was held at the prestigious Brisbane Golf Club with Queensland Cricket joining the Bulls Masters to raise funds for the QC Foundation and the Bulls Masters cricket programs.

The event mixed Ambrose with Stableford in a unique style that made all four members of each team have to contribute at every hole. The Queensland Cricketer’s and Bulls Masters representatives also had their own internal competition which of course was hotly contested. Michael Philipson came out with the bragging rights after all was said and done however Matthew Renshaw was happy enough to be crowned as the long drive winner at the par five ninth.

The day had many prizes including from Lexus at the par three fourth hole who were offering a new luxury car for anyone who can get a hole-in-one. All who tried drove home in their own cars unfortunately!

Chemist Warehouse put all the teams through some tasks dow at the seventh hole offering prize baskets to the winning team and Frank Correnti and his team from the Norman Hotel were a popular detour as they dished up snags and onions to hungry golfers.

A big thanks to Containers for change too who kept the golfers hydrated with their water station.

Michael Philipson’s team from Shaw and Partners came close to taking the big prize however it was John Howard’s Jabb Mining team featuring Queensland Cricket opener Bryce Street who came up with the overall win and claimed the Maher Jonassen Trophy!
