The rain held off for the duration of the Club 95 Golf Day that was played at Royal Pines this year with a big field of 10 teams taking their place in the field. The event was a four ball Ambrose tournament.
The Green Jackets are a prestigious prize for the winning team that are named after the players from the 1995 Sheffield Shield winning side. The Jackets are embroidered with the winning teams and players but so far it’s been Team Maher and Kasprowicz who have dominated with three wins a piece and last year it was Team Bichel who broke through.
After 12 holes and with six to play on the Championship course where the Australians Open has been played many times, it was looking like it was going to come down to Team Love (-6 off the stick), Team Rackemann (-5 off the stick) and Team Jackson (-4 off the stick)… with handicaps yet to be factored in.
Tension mounted as the awards were being announced with Team Love appearing to have the advantage. They scooped the lowest score on the par 3’s and the par 5’s. However, once handicaps were factored in, Team Jackson found themselves ahead! Congratulations to Club 95 member #57 Shaun Rose, member #86 Kathy Bayldon and playing for member #76 Karen Martens was Craig McWilliam.
