Queensland Cricket legend, Sam Trimble has passed away just before 11pm last night surrounded by loved ones.
Sam had a storied career in the Baggy Maroon cap, mainly as an opening batsman. He played 144 games and scored 10,282 runs which sits him 4th on the Queensland all-time run-scorers list behind Martin Love, Jimmy Maher and Stuart Law. Trimble sits above Matthew Hayden which tells you what a great player he was from 1959 to 1976.
He remained in the Queensland Cricket fold when he retired, looking after the indoor nets at the Gabba.
Sam Trimble will be remembered as a stalwart of Queensland Cricket through the 60’s and 70’s. Rest in Peace.
